Staffordshire University is a leading university for the delivery of the BSc (Hons) Midwifery Practice course. The Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education at Stafford has a dedicated midwifery skills laboratory and superb student facilities to enhance the commitment to academic excellence and the facilitation of student learning.  

Due to maternity leave, Staffordshire University is currently seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to join the established teaching team in supporting and facilitating learners through their study to become registered midwife. The post is for a one-year period and can be full or part time, depending upon the successful applicants preference and a secondment opportunity would be considered.

The role will involve preparation and delivery of teaching on various aspects of the BSc (Hons) Midwifery Practice course.

The post offers an excellent career development opportunity to gain experience in higher education as a Lecturer in Midwifery Practice for a 1-year period. The position is based at The Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education, Blackheath Lane Campus, Stafford, although some travel to the Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury and the University Stoke Campus will be expected on occasions.

The successful applicants will demonstrate excellent knowledge and skill in midwifery practice, will work well within a team and will possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with the midwifery undergraduate course would be beneficial and formal teaching experience is preferred but is not essential, although applicants who do not hold a teaching qualification would be expected to work towards one. 

Applicants must hold a relevant professional degree qualification and registration with the NMC is essential.

This role will require an enhanced DBS check.
