Staffordshire University is looking for an Ambitious and Inspirational individual to join our Digital Services Security team for the post of Security Architect on our Stoke site.

Keeping systems and data secure in a university environment is a challenging task. Staffordshire University operates large scale systems both on premise and in the cloud, with many systems that contain sensitive personal data, but operating within a network that needs to be open and accessible to our student community. Information security must constantly balance these competing demands and think differently to deliver flexible solutions that work for all stakeholders.

The Security Architect will design security components of systems architectures, ensuring industry standards and best practices are adhered to. Identify emerging threats to the security of systems, conducts risk and vulnerability assessments in the light of these threats, recommend appropriate responses to management, and provide advice to staff and students. The successful candidate will need to be experienced in the field of systems security architecture and the investigation and management of security incidents.

Key initiatives for the security team in the next 12 months include web filtering, multifactor authentication, managing unstructured data, aligning with ISO27001, and GDPR compliance.

Digital Services is a central department that provides vital services which underpin all the learning, teaching and University Business, ensuring that we are a truly Connected University.
