Staffordshire University’s Health & Clinical Skills Hub, within Technical Services, wish to appoint a Grade 4, Technical Assistant to work within the technical team at the university’s Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education. The role is based at the Blackheath Lane, Stafford campus, with some occasional requirement to support the technical team at the university’s healthcare delivery at the Stoke Campus.  

The position is open to, but not restricted to, individuals from a healthcare background and ideally suits clinical technicians, support workers, TNA’s and / or emergency care assistants, or an individual with lab-based experience.  The role is a full-time position, equating to 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri.  

As the successful post holder, you will provide excellent technical assistance, supporting staff and students.   Day-to-Day, you will be responsible for the setting up, clear down and upkeep of clinical skills labs used for practical clinical skills and Simulation Based Education delivery.  In the process, you will work alongside Technical Specialists, other Technical Assistants, as well as academic staff in providing an excellent student experience.  

You will be responsible for general lab housekeeping activities, ordering of clinical consumables and ensuring adherence to safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.  

In conjunction with preparing specialist equipment for clinical-skills and simulation-based sessions, you will also operate and maintain low and high-fidelity simulation resources and various task trainers.   Training on simulation and specialist equipment will be provided where necessary.

 You will provide support during open day events, offer holder days and Schools/College events.  The successful candidate will be a team-player, who possess a self-motivated and positive / flexible attitude to healthcare work.

The Department of Nursing is currently developing new curricular for pre-registration nursing and delivery of skills through Simulation Based Education and you will play an instrumental part in supporting the development and delivery of an innovative and technology enhanced clinical skills programme.
