Staffordshire University’s Health & Clinical Skills Hub, within Technical Services, wish to appoint a Grade 6 Technical Specialist (Nursing and Midwifery) to work within the technical team at the university’s Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury.  The role is a full-time position equating to 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri.  The role is for an immediate start.

As the successful post holder, you will be responsible for the delivery of professional clinical skills practice as part of the healthcare award programmes.  You will provide effective high-level clinical and specialist technical instruction, support and advice to staff and students across a wide range of technologies and clinical-skills practice within areas of Nursing and Midwifery. 

In conjunction with preparing specialist equipment and laboratories for clinical-skills and simulation-based sessions, you will operate and maintain low and high-fidelity simulation resources, supporting staff and students in the use of specialist clinical equipment.  In addition, you will be responsible for ordering clinical consumables and resources ensuring adherence to safe working practices is in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic, passionate healthcare professional who is a team-player, self-motivated with a positive and flexible attitude to work.  In addition, you will also possess excellent organisational skills.  The successful candidate will also hold and be expected to maintain NMC registration.

Some occasional travel between university sites (Stoke and Stafford Campus) may be necessary and there will be a requirement to work occasional evening/weekends in support the university’s recruitment and Open Day events.  

Training on use of specialist simulation equipment will be provided where necessary.

We are looking for the right person to fit into the existing team at an exciting time. The Department of Nursing is currently developing new curricular for pre-registration nursing and delivery of skills through Simulation Based Education.  You will play an instrumental part in supporting the development and delivery of Simulation Based Education and the innovative and technology enhanced approach to clinical skills taught delivery.
