Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke in to the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019  we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

Looking for a new challenge in healthcare? Staffordshire University’s Health & Clinical Skills Hub, within Technical Services, wish to appoint a Technical Specialist to work within the clinical Simulation Suites at our Stoke Campus.

The role is offered on a part-time (0.5 FTE) basis equating to 18.5 hours a week and the working days will be flexible to suit both the applicant and the demands of the academic timetable of the clinical skills delivery programme.

As the successful postholder, you will be responsible for delivery of professional skills-practice to Healthcare Professions programmes.  In the process, you will provide effective high-level clinical and specialist technical instruction, support and advice to academic staff and students across a wide range of technologies and clinical-skills practices within areas of Nursing and Midwifery.

Working independently, as well as part of a wider team of both academic and technical staff, you will draw upon your own clinical practice knowledge and experience, as a healthcare professional to deliver superb student supervision and guidance facilitating technology enhanced learning in the process.

In conjunction with preparing specialist equipment for clinical-skills teaching sessions, you will also operate and maintain low and high-fidelity simulation resources and task trainers, as well as supporting staff and students in the use of specialist clinical equipment.  In addition, you will be responsible for the ordering of clinical consumables, ensuring adherence to safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety regulations in the process.  The successful candidate will be a team player who is both enthusiastic, self-motivated with a positive and flexible approach to work, possessing excellent organisational skills.

The successful candidate will also hold NMC registration and be expected to maintain registration as part of the role.

Some occasional travel between university sites (Stafford and Shrewsbury Campuses) will be necessary.  Specialist training will be provided where necessary for the right candidate with regards to all the hi-fidelity simulation resources used.

We are looking for the right person to fit into the existing team at an exciting time of expansion within Nursing and Midwifery. The Department of Nursing is currently developing new curricular for pre-registration nursing and you will be instrumental in supporting the development and delivery of an innovative and technology enhanced programme that is fit for future healthcare needs.
