About the role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual, to join Staffordshire University’s Student Support and Experience (International) team, which is part of the Student Support and Wellbeing Service. The Student Support and Experience team has a wide remit which covers International Student Support, UKVI Compliance from enrolment onwards, Money & Guidance matters and student experience.  

The Student Support & Experience (International Compliance) Administrator (Apprentice) will deliver all clerical and administration support to ensure full compliance with our UKVI workflows. This role is key to ensuring that all regulatory requirements are adhered to in relation to university and external regulatory bodies (i.e. UKVI) relating to students visa sponsorship.  You will need to be able to work with minimum supervision, enjoy working with data, have good attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate case notes and student records relating to the interventions taken relating to sponsor compliance.   You will be required from time to time to work with the wider team to support UKVI compliance activities more generally.  

You will provide excellent student support by participating in events, campaigns, and initiatives throughout the year to support recruitment activities, retention and achievement of Staffordshire University students. You will need to be culturally aware and sensitive and have a real interest in making a positive difference to the experience of international and EU students in the UK.

Alongside this role, the successful candidate will undertake a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, which is fully funded by the University. Candidates will therefore require a minimum of grade C / 4 in English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.

Main Responsibilities 

The main responsibilities for our Student Support & Experience (International Compliance) Administrator (Apprentice) will be to:

  • To provide administration support to ensure compliance with the University’s UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) sponsor duty requirements.
  • Data entry related to UKVI compliance and attendance monitoring processes ensuring this adheres to university statutory and audit requirements.
  • To support the preparation and checking of student files required for audit and maintaining accurate and clear notes for ongoing cases across relevant university systems.
  • To support the enrolment activity of students during intake periods.  
  • To support and attend a range of events, activities and initiatives designed to support and enhance the international student experience as required.
