Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke in to the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019  we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking to recruit an Accommodation Officer (Allocations and Systems) to join our Residential Services team. This post will play a key role in ensuring that students from first point of contact and throughout their Staffordshire University Residential experience are effectively supported.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • The allocation and occupancy of the 1000 rooms within the University accommodation estate using our accommodation software package
  • The provision of expert advice and guidance to current and prospective residents regarding their accommodation options and contracts, primarily via email
  • Working with the team and with University stakeholders in assisting with the preparation and delivery of key roles at events such as Arrivals, Welcome, Open and Offer Holder Days
  • Developing, with colleagues, a range of innovative online resources for our student residential community that complement the physical activities and social programming taking place within and across our Residences.

The successful candidate will need to quickly pick up new software packages and be competent in the use of a range of systems and Microsoft Packages. We are looking for an excellent team player who can demonstrate a proven ability to work proactively. It is imperative that they have excellent communication skills, along with the ability to manage a busy workload and have the confidence to engage constructively with a variety of teams within and beyond the University.

The person we are looking for should have a sincere interest and understanding of the needs of students, and be able to communicate effectively with residents, university staff and external bodies.

In return for your dedication we have a competitive benefits package available:

  • Competitive incremental rates of Pay

  • 32 days Annual Leave plus 11 days Bank Holiday and Discretionary days

  • Excellent Pension Scheme

  • Access to continued professional and personal development

  • An opportunity to become part of the wider University community

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme

  • Discounted Health & Fitness Facilities on site at the Stoke Campus

  • Discounted Travel by Rail or Bus, with the option of season tickets loans
