About the role

As Communications Officer, you will support our Internal Communications Manager in ensuring that all communications channels are up to date, focusing on issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit and policy-related changes to ensure our students and staff are kept informed and updated in terms of how these changes impact them.

In this role, you will act as departmental Communications lead for ongoing changes within the HE landscape, while supporting our overarching Internal Communications plan for students and staff.

The successful applicant will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to capture the attention of staff, students and key stakeholders, driving our reputation as a Civic University while supporting student satisfaction and employee engagement.

An excellent multi-tasker with the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously, the post holder will be adept at communicating and engaging with multiple target audiences through a range of channels.

The preferred applicant will possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a flair for communications and customer service
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools including Content Management Systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, intranets and communications apps
  • Analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and qualitative inputs
  • Proofreading and editing skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write in line with our house style and deliver a consistent tone of voice across a variety of communications channels

 This post is for a 6-month fixed term contract.
