The Role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented manager, to join Staffordshire University Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding team, which is part of the Student Support and Wellbeing Service.  This is an exceptional period when the team is moving from a traditional Counselling Service to a multi-disciplinary team who provide psychological support to students promoting progression, retention and success at university.  The 20/21 academic year has seen the inception of ‘single session therapy’ to great success, signifying the ambition to create a continually evolving service delivery.    

This is a full-time role for a dynamic and experienced mental health professional to provide strategic leadership and operational management, leading a team of professionals through this transition, while delivering evidence-based interventions which foster student autonomy and resilience. The role will require the successful candidate to take the lead on the development of partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of services which meet the needs of our inclusive and diverse student and staff community. The postholder will have the operational lead on student safeguarding for the university and have a significant role in establishing a whole university approach to student wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have a Post-Graduate Diploma equivalent qualification in a relevant clinical field (e.g. Counselling/Psychotherapy, Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling Psychology, etc) and be accredited by a relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, NASW, BACP, UKCP, HCPC, BPS etc). Additionally, the successful candidate will have proven experience of effective team management and team development and strong clinical experience of working with people struggling with their mental health including experience in crisis intervention and of managing client risk.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
