About the role

As part of the University’s continued commitment to Psychology, and its growth and development we are looking for a highly motivated lecturer to join us in delivering our exciting undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and to contribute to our high-quality research profile. We have a well-established and popular set of psychology programmes ranging from a foundation year right through to two professional doctorate awards. We benefit from superb purpose-built facilities in in a £30 million Science Centre, and we work across the region with a number of organisations and agencies.  Putting the students first is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing an excellent student experience through exciting and innovative programmes and research and practice informed teaching at every level. 

Applications are sought from very enthusiastic, team-orientated, flexible individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presenting skills.  The counselling team covers a range of counselling theoretical approaches, practice and research interests in a team approach to teaching and learning. We are ideally looking for someone with expertise in (either child or lifespan) developmental psychology.  

As a member of a team delivering teaching on our undergraduate Psychology and courses we are looking for someone who is eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartership the British Psychological Society. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in developmental psychology (or be expecting the award imminently), and some recent experience of teaching and assessing is essential.  

Experience of course or module leadership or development would be welcomed, as would evidence of the generation of external income and a teaching qualification (and/or Fellowship of the HEA).
