Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke into the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019 we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapists to join our academic staff team on our courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy including the BABCP Accredited Postgraduate Diploma in CBT, Distance Learning MSc in CBT, CBT for Long Term Health Conditions and delivery of CPD courses.

The Staffordshire University Postgraduate Diploma in CBT is delivered in partnership with the local NHS Trust.  The academic staff team forms part of the School of Life Sciences and Education at Staffordshire University and is based in the Science Centre, Stoke Campus.

The post holders will contribute to the delivery of three major strands of training in CBT - academic, clinical and research. The role involves responsibilities for the organisation and delivery of the courses, teaching and assessing students, clinical supervision and personal tutoring. The role requires course monitoring and quality enhancement activities. The role includes management of student clinical placements and liaising with professional bodies, adhering to BABCP, NHS England, and Staffordshire University standards and policies. The role also involves liaising directly with key stakeholders, such as local Service Managers, and attending the National Course Directors meeting on a bi-annual basis in order to keep abreast of, and influence local and national IAPT developments.  In addition, the post holder will be expected to contribute to departmental and university initiatives in line with strategic business development plans.

Applicants will have a MSc/Postgraduate Diploma in CBT, or equivalent relevant to the discipline. Applicants must be BABCP Accredited and in practice as an ongoing requirement of the post. Applicants should have worked for a minimum of two years post-qualification and successful applicants will have significant experience of providing clinical supervision to trainees and of working within clinical settings. Successful applicants will possess excellent IT and interpersonal skills.

Previous employment in delivering CBT training programmes, research skills and a track record of publications would be advantageous.

Programme staff are employed by Staffordshire University and are responsible to the Course Director.
