Come and join our brilliant and friendly team! As part of the growth and development of our Counselling provision, we are looking for a highly motivated lecturer to join us in delivering our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and to contribute to our high quality research profile. The post holders will become part of a friendly, hard-working and dedicated team of academics, who deliver certificate, BACP accredited diploma and MSc level Psychotherapeutic counselling courses, as well as counselling and psychology modules on a BPS accredited Psychology and Counselling degree course at undergraduate level.

We benefit from superb purpose-built facilities in a £30 million Science Centre, and we work across the region with a number of organisations and agencies.  Putting the students first is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing an excellent student experience through exciting and innovative programmes and research and practice informed teaching at every level.

Applications are sought from very enthusiastic, team-orientated, flexible individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presenting skills.  The counselling team covers a range of counselling theoretical approaches, practice and research interests in a team approach to teaching and learning. We are ideally looking for a person with experience in integrated counselling and different therapy modalities.

As a member of a team delivering teaching on professional counselling courses we are looking for someone currently in practice as a counsellor, Counselling Psychologist, therapist or supervisor, who is a member of a UK professional counselling body (e.g. BACP or UKCP), engaging in regular professional development in line with ethical guidelines of the professional organization. Ideally we would like someone with practice and/or teaching experience in counselling using an integrative approach of different therapy modalities. Courses are taught and assessed through a variety of interactive activities, including personal development groups; as such experience of group facilitation would be helpful in this part of the job.

Applicants should have an MSc or MA in Counselling or Counselling Psychology and relevant professional experience.  Some evening and weekend teaching (Saturday workshops 4 times per year, residential weekend annually) will be required within the role.

This post is subject to a DBS check.
