Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

Our new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

Come and join our brilliant and friendly team! An exciting opportunity has arisen at Staffordshire University for a highly motivated lecturer or senior lecturer (depending on experience) in Criminology to join us in delivering our thriving undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and to contribute to our excellent research profile. The successful applicant will join a highly regarded, research active and student-centred team of colleagues. We are looking to appoint someone who is enthusiastic and highly motivated with the ability to teach a broad range of topics within Criminology. Your role will include teaching, assessment, curriculum development, and recruitment and admissions.

Your teaching approach will be flexible, student-centred and research informed. The role will also require you to develop and maintain productive relationships with placement providers, employers and other stakeholders, so you will need a high level of inter-personal skills, and personal effectiveness to promote a high-quality experience for all involved. You will have a strong commitment to continuing professional development and to inter-professional and international perspectives. We expect you will have experience of, and a commitment to, delivering high quality teaching in a multi-disciplinary environment and have excellent communication skills. We have a collegiate environment where it is usual to work with colleagues from academic disciplines including Law and Forensic Science, and with others across the wider university community.

This is an exciting time to join Staffordshire University. We have risen exponentially in university league tables, recently making 37 in the Guardian League Table, and we are delighted to have achieved TEF Gold. The University is recognised for the high quality of the provision of a broad portfolio of on-campus, off-campus, blended and distance learning undergraduate and postgraduate courses. We also have strong partnerships with employers and placement providers from a range of sectors. Research activity is an integral part of the University's business and we are committed to enabling staff to engage in a wide range of research and scholarship.
