About the role

An opportunity has arisen in the Law Department at Staffordshire University for a full-time Course Director in Law. You will be part of an outstanding, collegiate team which delivers an exciting undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. Teaching is delivered both face-to-face and virtually. We are interested in people passionate about their subject area and whose enthusiasm can inspire our students. We would like to hear from people with expertise in any area of Law or legal practice.

As a Course Director, whilst you may also teach on the undergraduate Law courses, you will lead the postgraduate Law provision at Staffordshire University, taking responsibility for the student experience, quality and quality enhancement of the postgraduate courses we offer. In addition, you will take responsibility for further developing our postgraduate Law provision.

You will have either a doctoral level qualification in Law or be near completion of one. You will have experience of teaching and learning in Higher Education, including through VLEs. You will also have experience in course leadership and management, and course design and validation. Specifically, you will be well versed in the changes to post graduate Law and be up-to-date with the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination. It would be advantageous if you had a practicing certificate.

Additional to the specific skills detailed above, you will have experience of, or show willingness to take part in, the full range of the team’s activities such as student recruitment and outreach and maintenance of the team’s social media profile for example. We would also expect you to be able to contribute to the University’s Research Excellence Framework and/or knowledge exchange provision. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be a good team player, and be flexible and adaptable to change.

In return for your dedication, we have a competitive benefits package available
