Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke into the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019  we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

Staffordshire University has well-established qualifying Social Work programmes and you will be joining us at an exciting time when we are developing our range of provision. We have strong connections to our local partners and to the regional teaching partnership. The School of Health and Social Care is currently recruiting for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Work, with a particular emphasis on Practice Education. In this key role you will contribute to the development and delivery of the academic provision and to Practice Educators in particular.

You will also support the School, and the wider University, to deliver new initiatives and developments in line with our strategic objectives. You’ll have the ability to deliver an excellent student experience through creative and innovative learning, and a commitment to pastoral care.

Starting salary will depend on your qualifications and experience but for the Senior Lecturer role you must have significant experience of managing, leading and developing courses, supervision of research projects and knowledge of academic quality assurance processes. You must also be a member of the HE Academy or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.

In return for your dedication we have a competitive benefits package available:

  • Competitive incremental rates of Pay
  • Starting from 29 days Annual Leave (depending on job grade) plus 11 days Bank Holiday and Discretionary days
  • Excellent Pension Scheme
  • Access to continued professional and personal development
  • An opportunity to become part of the wider University community
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounted Health & Fitness Facilities on site at the Stoke Campus
  • Discounted Travel by Rail or Bus, with the option of season tickets loans
