Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke into the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019  we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

We are seeking a brilliant, friendly, ambitious and inspirational Service User and Carer Coordinator to join the School of Health and Social Care.

The role would include such activities as:

  • Acting as the first contact point for Service Users and Carers.
  • Providing administrative support and coordination for all Service User and Carer activities across the School of Health and Social Care.
  • Leading on the recruitment, induction and development of Service Users and Carers.
  • Effectively evaluating and evidencing the impact of Service User and Carer activities.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of the key issues and challenges in relation to Service Users and Carers involvement in higher education, ideally with specific experience of working with Service Users and Carers in a health and social care or educational setting. Self-motivation, effective teamwork, a strong level of digital skills and excellent communication skills are essential.

The School of Health & Social Care’s ambition is to ensure that we develop the safest practitioners in the sector, and patient safety and simulation-based education is a key strand of our work. We would particularly welcome applicants with a passion for enhancing the student experience.

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community – a place where all can be ourselves and succeed on merit.

The post is to cover maternity leave,  and is therefore offered on a temporary basis for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier.

A DBS check is required for this post.

In return for your dedication we have a competitive benefits package available:

  • Competitive incremental rates of Pay

  • Starting from 29 days Annual Leave (depending on job grade) plus 11 days Bank Holiday and Discretionary days pro rata

  • Excellent Pension Scheme

  • Access to continued professional and personal development

  • An opportunity to become part of the wider University community

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme

  • Discounted Health & Fitness Facilities on site at the Stoke Campus

  • Discounted Travel by Rail or Bus, with the option of season tickets loans
