The HR Team support leaders to create an environment where people are proud to work for us, are inspired to deliver great services to our customers and each other, and where contribution is recognised. We’ll embed the values and behaviours that make the University a great place to work and identify and develop people’s skills, talents and potential to enable them to grow personally and thrive at work.

This is an Advisor level role, based in the HR Service Centre. You will be working alongside, HR Administrators, providing first line HR and Recruitment advice and guidance to managers, employees and candidates around policy, process and procedure; and assisting HR Business Partners with more complex work.

There will be expectation that you will also work alongside the Recruitment and HR Advisor, to ensure that an efficient and effective service is delivered, so a knowledge of recruitment and talent management would be advantageous.

Although your focus will be mainly around people issues, you will be part of the much wider HR and OD team and there will be an opportunity and a need on occasions for you to participate in other HR and wider University activities.

We are a friendly, knowledgeable and professional bunch and we would love to offer this amazing opportunity to someone who is people and solutions focussed, with a passion for working with people.

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced HR environment.
  • A recognised HR qualification or working towards, an apprenticeship may be available at CIPD level 5
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective business relationships.
  • Strong communication skills with high levels of attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, empathetic, patient, open-minded, professional and confidential.

What you can expect from us

  • Every day will be different and bring new HR challenges
  • You will be supported professionally in your development with lots of opportunity to progress your skills, knowledge and experience
  • A generous annual leave allowance

If the opportunity excites you, and you would like to be part of a progressive HR team in a connected University, then we look forward to hearing from you.
