Staffordshire University is recruiting a Control Room Support Officer to join their busy Campus Safety & Security Service in Stoke.

The role works Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm, although flexibility will be required during key operational times and events.

This is an exciting opportunity and a role like no other! The team plays a pivotal role in the health and safety of staff, students and visitors to the university, as well as providing 24 hour security services. Most importantly, we provide welfare support for students, working closely with wellbeing and other services across the university through our 24 hour provision. The service is fast paced and responsive, with no two days being the same! You will play a key role in developing and fostering relationships with everyone on campus, in order for us to maintain a safe, secure environment as well as helping us to maintain accurate records, run our front facing service and supporting the wider team. In return we can offer you a generous benefits package including enhanced annual leave entitlement, a comprehensive training package and private pension.

We are currently going through a period of transformation and service improvement, so this is an exciting time to join a diverse and highly skilled team!

Successful candidates will have previous administration, security or other relevant experience. We require exceptional levels of customer service, the ability to be diplomatic in conflict and empathise with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. You must have the ability to work in sometimes challenging situations, remaining calm and acting effectively. You will be a positive individual and committed team player, but with the ability to work independently and on your own initiative. You must be comfortable with technology and computer literate as we are a digital university. As a service we go beyond the traditional security boundaries and as an individual you must be highly skilled and flexible to deal with this challenging and varied role. The ability to embrace change is a must. Confidentiality is a key part of this role and you must have the ability to work discretely at all times. As a university we consider the right attitudes and behaviours are just as important as experience and skill.

Our department philosophy is to keep our customers at the heart of everything we do and we expect our staff to uphold our values of “Diligent, Kind and Excellent” at all times, linking in to the University’s overall vision, strategy and values.
