In the School of Digital, Technology, Innovation and Business we have an exciting portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeship and professional programmes, with a strong history of business education. We are keen to recruit outstanding lecturing staff to support our business provision. You will be joining a well-established team with a wealth of experience both in academia and in industry. The School is highly interdisciplinary in nature, and a great place to develop a distinctive academic portfolio. 

The Institute of Business and Innovation sits within our School of Digital, Technology, Innovation and Business, a unique combination of disciplines that is ideally placed to respond to today’s business environment. You will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from other academic disciplines including Engineering, IT, Creative Industries, Games, and others across the wider university community.

We are seeking to appoint two highly motivated Digital and Social Media Marketing academics to join our growing interdisciplinary academic team and be part of delivering our ambitious plans. 

You will have a commitment to developing and delivering high-quality face-to-face and online teaching, have excellent communication skills and an ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team of academic staff in delivering across our range of undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeship and professional courses.

You will be educated ideally to Level 8 (PhD or DBA) with a research profile, and you’ll have the ability to deliver an excellent student experience through creative and innovative learning, and a commitment to pastoral care, as well as actively engaging in scholarly activity and research, to make an impact to our emerging research agenda. 

Starting salary will depend on your qualifications and experience but for the Senior Lecturer role you will have significant experience of managing, leading and developing courses, supervision of research projects and knowledge of academic quality assurance processes. You will also be a member of the HE Academy or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.

As well as contributing to the delivery of teaching you will be expected to undertake research, consultancy and income generating activities to contribute towards The Institute’s strategic priorities. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in research and who therefore have the potential to contribute to the University’s research agenda and work with internationally leading research centres. Main Responsibilities 

  • Recent experience of teaching and assessing in HE is advantageous as is demonstration of engagement with scholarship and/or research (evidenced by recent publications in peer-reviewed journals).
  • Experience of course or module leadership or development would be welcomed, as would evidence of the generation of external income and a teaching qualification (and/or Fellowship of the HEA). 
  • A commitment to work towards a teaching qualification and Fellowship of the HEA will be part of probationary process if you do not already have one.
  • You will report to the Head of Department and the Course Director of the relevant portfolio, as appropriate.
