About the role 

Staffordshire University department of Media and Performance is growing its journalism provision. We are currently looking to recruit a Lecturer in Journalism and Sports Broadcast (0.6) to join our dynamic team to teach across a range of courses including: BA (Hons) and MA Sports Journalism, BA (Hons) Professional Sports Writing and Broadcasting and input at times into our new BA(Hons) Journalism and Digital Media, launching September 2021.

We are looking for someone with experience of working professionally as a broadcast journalist with a regional or national broadcaster in news and sport. Previous experience of reporting live on breaking news/sport for regional or national broadcaster will be essential.

Previous experience in public relations, campaigning, media management, crisis communications and reputational issues will be central core of the delivery. We would also welcome individuals with editing experience also. We are looking for someone with an NCTJ diploma and experience of teaching and marking on NCTJ modules. in-depth knowledge of media law/qualifications in NCTJ media law will be advantageous.

As well as industry experience, we are looking for someone who has higher education experience and can bring this experience to the team in relation to being at the forefront of learning and teaching.
