Staffordshire University has ambitious plans, and this is a particularly exciting time to join the organisation as we embed our strategy to become `The Connected University’. With a presence across three main campus sites, we have recently invested over £40 million in campus transformation, including the creation of two new Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education based in Stafford and Shrewsbury with £5.5 million investment in new specialist facilities.  At our main city campus in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent we are actively supporting the city’s bid to become City of Culture 2021 with the University embedded as its intellectual hub.  We continue to invest in our campus buildings and facilities with a focus on providing innovative, digitally led teaching spaces to enhance our students’ experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a modern-thinking, experienced professional to join Staffordshire University and lead on our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda. This is a great opportunity to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the University and drive the E&D strategy.  In particular, you will lead the development, communication and delivery of the Equality and Diversity Strategy, and lead the action plans for externally accredited equality programmes such as the Race Equality Charter Mark, Athena SWAN and Stonewall, ensuring compliance with our public sector equality duties.

You will work in partnership with School and Service departments in gathering evidence and devising innovative initiatives to make Staffordshire University a more inclusive place to work and study.

You will possess exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate complex matters simply and concisely to staff and students at all levels. You will have demonstrable experience of dealing with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds on sensitive, complex issues and be insightful of people and organisational dynamics. Working across the organisation you will be required to influence senior managers in order to drive the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. Your data analysis, report writing and presentation skills will be exemplary in order to analyse complex issues and assess the available options, and present reasoned recommendations for action.

You will have a first degree as an indicative level of educational attainment, along with demonstrable experience of providing specialist equality and diversity advice.  You will possess a sound working knowledge and experience of all equality strands and wider diversity, equality and inclusion issues.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated individual who will be key to promoting and embedding the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda within the University.

In addition to a salary band offering annual progression through the pay scale and cost of living pay increases, we offer a number of benefits including membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement of up to 37 days in addition to 11 bank holiday and discretionary days.
