An opportunity has arisen in the School of Digital, Technologies and Arts for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Photography , who has specialist knowledge of contemporary professional photographic practice in one or more of the following: Advertising, PR, Editorial, Publishing, Documentary and/or Fine Art. Whilst the role is being offered on a 1.0 FTE basis, consideration would be given to requests for part time on a 0.8 FTE basis. 

You will join a vibrant community of staff, students and researchers. The Department seeks to appoint a well-qualified, experienced and highly committed Lecturer in Photography primarily to contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The successful applicant will possess a MA in Photography, together with a record of research and/or scholarship. You will have a depth of knowledge of critical theory and contemporary photographic practice and its contexts. You will have experience of teaching and learning in Higher Education, including support through VLE’s.  With the ability to contribute across all levels, you will help to create and support a diverse range of learning opportunities within a broad-based photographic curriculum. Among your responsibilities will be an active contribution to various aspects of course delivery and planning, working with and supporting colleagues in their roles. You will have strong technical expertise and teaching experience of all aspects of digital workflow management from DSLR cameras through to post production and studio/location lighting.

As an industry-facing course you will continue to foster external collaborations and opportunities for students.

You will have experience of or show willingness to take part in the range of the team’s activities, including recruitment, outreach and maintenance of the team’s social media profile. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be a good team player and be flexible and adaptable to change.
