About the role 

University of Staffordshire is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Joiner to join our Estates and Commercial Services team. This vital role supports the effective maintenance, repair, and improvement of university buildings, facilities, and learning environments across our campuses.

As a Maintenance Joiner, you will carry out a wide range of carpentry and joinery tasks, respond to reactive maintenance requests, and contribute to planned improvement works. You’ll ensure all work is completed to a high standard, complies with health and safety legislation, and supports the creation of safe, functional, and inspiring spaces for students, staff, and visitors.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for the role holder will be to:

1. Work with the enterprise service management desk (‘Solve’), undertake all joinery repairs and renovations across the university estate, carrying out general property repair works, both internally and externally, as a result of the scheduled inspections programme including repairing structural woodwork, maintaining fire door and fire compartmentalisation and replace defective parts and equipment using hand tools and power tools and identifying and ordering all trade related materials necessary to carry out the works

2. Carry out planned and reactive joinery work, including repairs, installations, and refurbishments

3. Maintain, upgrade, and fit building components such as doors, windows, flooring, and bespoke fittings

4.Support wider maintenance operations as part of a multi-skilled Estates team

5. Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations and university policies

6. Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and campus stakeholders to deliver efficient, high-quality service

7. Accurately record work undertaken and materials used
