Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke in to the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019  we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

Our adult nursing course sits within the School of Health and Social Care whose ambition is to ensure it develops the safest practitioners in the sector. To this end patient safety and simulation-based education is a key strand of our work and we would particularly welcome applicants with a passion for patient safety and simulation.

The role involves preparation and delivery of teaching and learning activity on various aspects of our nursing courses including the delivery of clinical skills, theory teaching, personal tutoring, and assessment. The successful applicant will have extensive experience and knowledge of working as a registered nurse and will be very familiar with the requirements of the registered nurse role. Effective teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential. Formal teaching experience in higher education is preferred but, is not essential for the Lecturer (Grade 7) post.

Applicants must have possession of a PhD or equivalent professional standing in a relevant subject area and current live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered Nurse is essential.

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community – a place where all can be ourselves and succeed on merit.

In return for your dedication we have a competitive benefits package available

  • Competitive incremental rates of Pay
  • 37 days Annual Leave plus 11 days Bank Holiday and Discretionary days (pro rata)
  • Excellent Pension Scheme
  • Access to continued professional and personal development
  • An opportunity to become part of the wider University community
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounted Health & Fitness Facilities on site at the Stoke Campus
  • Discounted Travel by Rail or Bus, with the option of season tickets loans

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Thank you for your interest in this role. Whilst the University campus is currently closed, the University is still open, and we are providing online lessons to our students as well as essential services.
