Staffordshire University is a leading university for the delivery of the BSc (Hons) Midwifery Practice course. The Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education at Stafford and Shrewsbury have dedicated midwifery skills laboratories and superb student facilities to enhance the commitment to academic excellence and the facilitation of student learning.  

This is an exciting opportunity to join the midwifery lecturing team in the School of Health and Social Care whilst also being involved in the delivery and development of quality enhanced and innovative midwifery health care placements in partnership with Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust. This 12-month project aims to increase and enhance the established placement experience currently enjoyed by the BSc (Hons) Midwifery Practice students and there will be an expectation that the postholder will undertake ongoing evaluation of the impact any changes have made.  This post gives you the opportunity to gain a secondment into higher education, with agreement from your employing organisation, or for you to be employed as a fixed term Grade 8 Senior Lecturer. 

The post holder will be based at the Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury, although travel to the Centre of Excellence in Healthcare Education, Blackheath Lane Campus, Stafford, will be required. Travel to the University Stoke Campus will be also be expected on occasions.

The successful applicants will demonstrate excellent knowledge and skill in midwifery practice, have an excellent understanding of student requirements within their practice placement experiences, must work well within a team and will possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with the midwifery undergraduate course would be beneficial and formal teaching experience is preferred but is not essential. 

Applicants must hold a relevant professional degree qualification and registration with the NMC is essential.
