1 Hold a level three core competence qualification in Early Years and Child Development E A
2 Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification in Early Years, hold Early Years Professional Status D A
Experience
3 Evidence of progressive professional development E A
4 Good post qualifying childcare experience and extensive knowledge of Health and Safety including risk assessments within Early Years E A/I
5 Substantial nursery administration and financial experience in a full day care setting E A/I
6 Experience of dealing with formal / informal service complaints and monitoring of staff processes D A/I
Knowledge
7 A good knowledge of key legislation and procedures relevant to operating a regulated Early Years’ Service or to Local colleges E A/I
Skills and Behaviours
8 Demonstrate ability to be flexible in a demanding role, to organise a significant workload while balancing competing priorities and producing work to a high and accurate standard by agreed deadlines, attending open days, staff and parent evenings and working out of usual working hours as required E A/I
9 A track record of developing, implementing and delivering continuous improvement in service delivery E A/I
10 Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work constructively with a wide range of parents and staff, including evidence of the use of tact, diplomacy and negotiation E A/I
11 Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in simple and straightforward terms to students and staff (individuals or groups) E A/I
12 Evidence of delivering a positive customer service to all stakeholders such as; parents, colleges and specialised services E A/I
13 Ability to communicate issues clearly to Head of Service and parents along with external / internal partners such as; Local Authority, Ofsted and Environmental Health E A/I

15 Extensive and relevant IT skills. Familiarity with Childsplay and Microsoft Office an advantage E A/I
